Morrisette Packaging, a third-generation family-owned enterprise, is positioning itself as a market leader in the North American high graphics corrugated market by investing in two new Koenig & Bauer corrugated machines. The Koenig & Bauer Omega Magnus 230 folder gluer is arriving at Morrisette’s sprawling Greensboro, North Carolina facility in October and a Koenig & Bauer ChromaCUT High Tech eight-color rotary die cutter will be commissioned in April 2026, marking both to be the first ever to be installed in North America.
“We bought the machines together and will have succeeded in creating something no one else in this industry…or on this continent has.” says John Morrisette, the firm’s president. “The Koenig & Bauer Celmacch brand is an extremely impactful name around the world, and we quickly discovered their machines were the best in the industry.”
With the recent addition of its high graphics corrugated manufacturing division, Morrisette Packaging has the ability to design stunning graphics, create innovative structures, automate processes, customize foam, and now manufacture digital or flexographic printing, gluing, cutting, and delivery – all in-house.
The two keystone machines for its new high graphics manufacturing operation are from the renowned European manufacturer Koenig & Bauer. The Koenig & Bauer Celmacch ChromaCUT High Tech eight-color rotary die cutter is a major investment in itself but Morrisette Packaging made the decision to invest in a second Koenig & Bauer machine - the Omega Magnus 230 folder gluer. The firm’s pressroom also includes a digital printer, digital die cutter, a flatbed die cutter, and a fully autonomous conveyance system.
The Morrisette team discovered the Koenig & Bauer equipment at Drupa 2024 and completely vetted it before signing the contract. “In my four decades in the corrugated industry, I’ve never seen anything like it [Koenig & Bauer’s equipment],” says Kevin O’Brien, Morrisette’s director of manufacturing. “My expectations were exceeded. The machinery would allow Morrisette Packaging to indeed fill a niche in the market.”
With these multi-million-dollar investments, Morrisette Packaging is poised to take an unrivalled position in the North American packaging market. Since its founding in 1962, the company has evolved from being a distributor of paper bags, foil liners, and tissue paper into a full-service packaging partner centered around packaging design and design thinking.
Today, Morrisette Packaging collaborates with companies seeking to enhance their branding, increase production efficiency, reduce overall costs, and automate their packaging processes. Morrisette Packaging expects the entire corrugated sheet plant to be fully operational by June of 2026.
